WUT

This person is creative, funny and knowledgeable.

Also afraid of failure.

This is so sad!

And how many more people are afraid too?

So much wasted potential.

This is not sad...

It’s tragic.

Why is this happening?

How can I help my friend?

How do we stop this tragedy?

I went browsing...

WANTED

Ninjas & heroes

Arbitrary rankings

Everyone wants to be a code hero

Maybe not.

Massive dissonance

This is awfully unhealthy.

The truth about heroes

So what’s the difference between you and a “hero”?

We learn from failure

Hey Edison, how does it feel to fail 10,000 times? I have not failed, not once. I’ve discovered ten thousand ways that don’t work.

We don’t compare with others

We build many things

We are “luckier” than the rest

We are not afraid to give projects up

We don’t fear the unknown

We welcome errors

We might intentionally look for errors

We also laugh at failure

We “get” relativity

Conclusions

You are awesome.

And weak. And scared.

And it’s OK.

Always Be Learning.

Care for yourself.

Ask for help.

Help others.

We don’t need no code heroes

We need teamwork...

... and hugs for when we fail!

Thanks!
