Skeuofunctionalism

The Department for Invented Words brings you today...

Skeuofunctionalism: In parallel to skeuomorphism, it's the habit of translating old customs, valid in the physical world, to the digital world.

An example: limiting the number of times a digital item can be "borrowed" from a digital library. This only serves to create an artificial scarcity and prevent the primary aim, which is making the information available to as many people as possible.
