"Famous modern ghost stories" (various authors, 1921)

I downloaded this book from Project Gutenberg one jetlagged sleepless night right after I got a Kindle. I wanted to read one or two short stories and fall asleep, but turns out all of them were way longer than I expected. Boo! So they didn't work as I intended them to work, and not all of them were of my liking, but some of them were still pretty cool.

My favourites:

  • "Lazarus" by Leonid Andreyev (this one actually produced quite an uneasy feeling on me)
  • "The Messenger" by Robert W. Chambers
  • "The shadows on the wall" by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
You can download this compilation in various formats from the Gutenberg book page: Famous modern ghost stories.
