So I got the player kind of working. I say 'kind of' because nothing is coming out from the audio, although the rows are moving, patterns are getting read, the order list is being honoured. At last!

There's some silly bug in here but my sleepy brain won't find it today, I'm afraid...

But I'm getting there!
