Week notes [2022/36]

  • At work:
    • Nothing, I have been on holidays!!!!!!!
  • Not at work:
    • Finding it funny that I am missing using a mechanical keyboard. I'm using a MacBook Air keyboard the couple of times that I use a laptop, and each time I keep thinking: ugh, this is not clicking. ugh, this is such short travel distance for my fingers.
    • More thoughts on transportation and Valencia:
      • It is nice to see the newly (almost) pedestrianised Plaça de la Verge, giving lots more space to pedestrians rather than to cars
        • I say almost because they still have an underground parking that cars reach by circulating over the South East side of the square, but the entrance is not as prominent as it used to be, freeing lots of space for planters and shading.
        • Still, the west side of the square feels almost like a trap with all the restaurant tables and buskers; I'd rather the restaurants had the tables closer to their premises rather than with a space in between, as in this way they monopolise way more space in the street than they would otherwise.
          • It also feels quite dangerous for waiters to walk that extra distance carrying stuff on their hands. I am always worried about them tripping on me when walking and looking backwards (I've witnessed plenty of opportunities that I've carefully avoided), or me tripping on something that fell from their plates (fortunately this has never quite happened, but the worry stays).
        • I really hope they add more greenery in the future. With this heat recently, it is sorely needed...
      • We've also enjoyed using the new metro/tramway 10 line. More of this please!
      • I was quite surprised there are security guards enforcing mask usage in trains and trams. It's the first time since the pandemic started that I've seen any sort of actual enforcement take place, rather than signs telling people to "care for others, wear a mask" (meaning I've never seen any enforcement in the UK).
